Some weekends are for soft brunches and slow strolls. Others, like the Le Mans Classic, are full-throttle.
Established in 2002, the Le Mans Classic is a biennial celebration of racing cars that have made history, those that have competed in the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans, for a long weekend that celebrates craftsmanship, courage and the sheer thrill of endurance racing.
The 12th edition, held from July 3 to 6, 2025, was no exception. More than 1,000 drivers and 750 classic cars, spanning from 1923 to the 2000s, returned to the legendary 13.6-kilometer Sarthe circuit. Like the Le Mans race itself, they compete over the course of 24 hours across six categories, each representing a major era from 1923 through 1981.
With over 9,000 classic cars on display from 80 brands and 200 automobile clubs, the atmosphere at the village in northwestern France was as much a rolling museum as it was a motorsport festival.
And just as it has from the very beginning, Richard Mille was there, marking the moment in mechanical form.
A principal partner since the event’s inception in 2002, the luxury watchmaker has made it a tradition to release a special edition timepiece for each Le Mans Classic that features the race’s signature green and white.
For the 2025 event, that honor goes to the RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic, a 150-piece limited-edition watch that embodies the event’s legacy with mechanical elegance and motorsport soul.
Housed in sleek titanium and Green Quartz TPT®, the watch pulls visual cues straight from the racetrack: a checkered flag frame around the oversized date window, a green rubber strap with racing-style vents and orange-green interior accents.
Flip it over and you’ll spot the Le Mans Classic logo on the sapphire crystal caseback, a nod to those who know their pole positions from their pit stops.
Under the hood, the RMAR2 caliber movement has been tuned like a race car engine: a new 24-hour counter (with a green-shaded “16” marking the traditional start time), a clutch engagement indicator at 11 o’clock to monitor rotor movement and a function selector at 3 o’clock to toggle settings with pit-crew precision.
The reinterpreted skeletonized dial evokes the outlines of a racing circuit, while the 55-hour power reserve means it’s more than ready for the long haul.
Just as the Le Mans Classic honors the centenary-old Le Mans race, the RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic proudly wears its racing spirit inside and out, on and off the track.
